摘要
Application of the conventional eigen-analysis method, QR method[1], to study the electromechanical oscillation (swing) in a 13-machine power system showed that it is inefficient and inaccurate. A new reduced-order iterative method for power system swing mode computation has been proposed. In addition a criterion for identifying the swing mode is proposed to check if the mode obtained by the iterative method is a swing mode. Studies on a 13-machine power system indicate that the proposed method is more accurate and faster than the QR method. The storage requirements are also much smaller.
