INVESTIGATION OF THE CLEANLINESS OF PT IN ACIDIC FORMIC-ACID SOLUTION BY THE TECHNIQUE OF MODULATED POTENTIAL TIME WAVE-FORMS

摘要
Two main techniques of modulated potential-time waveforms (MPTWs), namely cyclic voltammetry and periodic potential pulse polarization, to maintain the cleanliness and reproducibility of the surface of a platinum electrode have been compared according to the quantity of electricity in the adsorbed hydrogen region. The working electrode behaved in a reproducibly clean and reactive way under the conditions of these two MPTWs. The MPTW method has also been applied to the study of the adsorption and electro-oxidation of formic acid in acidic solution. The degree of coverage of the formic acid adsorption residues, theta(org), and the number of electrons per site, N(eps), are determined by integration of the voltammograms. The chemisorbed poisoning of the electro-oxidation of HCOOH has also been investigated.
