TRIPLET-STATE IR SPECTROSCOPY OF AROMATIC HOMOCYCLES AND HETEROCYCLES

摘要
The triplet (T1) state IR spectra of 9 aromatic compounds, i.e. acenaphthene, biphenyl, chrysene, coronene, fluorene, 2-phenyl-pyridine, 5-monoazaphenanthrene (5-MAP) and triphenylene, embedded in rigid glass at 77 K are reported. The symmetry of the T1 vibrations has been determined from IR linear dichroism measurements of T1 excited molecules in stretched polymer films. The T1 vibrational spectra were tentatively assigned on the basis of analogous experimental and theoretical results for the respective ground-state molecules.
