LIGHT-INDUCED CONVERSION OF CHLORINE CONTAINING POLYMERS IN THE PRESENCE OF PYRROLE INTO CONDUCTING PATTERNS

摘要
This paper outlines the generation of conducting patterns via light induced conversion of chlorine containing polymers in the presence of suitable monomers such as pyrrole. Pyrrole is introduced into the matrix by diffusion during the deposition of the polymer in a pyrrole vapor atmosphere. Subsequently, this precomposite is exposed to UV radiation. The photolysis of the host polymer is associated with the elimination of HCI in the irradiated areas only, yielding a composite material with enhanced electrical conductivity. The unexposed areas remain highly insulating. Via this procedure, a composite pattern with enhanced electrical conductivity can be obtained using a patterned mask for flood exposure. Thereafter, the pattern can be transferred into a three-dimensional structure by wet or dry development steps.
