CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF TRANSPARENT AND CONDUCTING POLYANILINE POLY(ETHYLENE-TEREPHTHALATE) COMPOSITE FILMS

Transparent and conducting polyaniline-poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PAn-PET) composite films were synthesized chemically by exposing PET films (10-mu-m thickness) sorbing aniline monomer to the vapours of aqueous (NH4)2S2O8 solution containing HCl. The resulting PAn-PET composite films prepared by this diffusion-oxidation procedure exhibit under optimum conditions conductivities in the range of 0.1-0.2 S/cm and transmittances greater than 70% between 450-700 nm.
