TOP-SEEDED GROWTH OF ND-YAL3(BO3)(4) FROM HIGH-TEMPERATURE SOLUTION

摘要
Nd:YAl3(BO3)(4) single crystals were grown by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique from a high temperature solution using K2O/3MoO(3)/0.5B(2)O(3) flux. At a cooling rate of 2 degrees C/day and seeding in the [001] direction, inclusion-free crystals were grown up to 16 x 16 x 18 mm(3) in size. The quality and morphology of NdxY1-xAl3(BO3)(4) (NYAB) crystals were strongly dependent on the seed orientation. The crystal faces of {2(1) over bar0$ 10}, {110} and {101} were well developed. By X-ray topography, crystal defects were observed.
