Cyclic voltammetric studies of several biscyanophthalocyaninato metal complexes and related compounds A[Mc(-2)M(+III)(CN)2] (A = Na, K, Bu4N; Mc = macrocycle = phthalocyaninato, tetrabenzoporphyrinato, 2,3-naphthalocyaninato; M = Co, Rh, Fe, Ru, Cr, Mn) in acetone/0.1 M Bu4NClO4 indicated that the first oxidation process occurs on the macrocycle leading to an Mc(-1)M(+III)(CN)2 radical-cation species. By galvanostatic and potentiostatic electrocrystallization of the monomeric compounds A[Mc(-2)M(+III)X2] in acetone, the corresponding Mc(-1)M-(+III)X2 compounds could be synthesized. These compounds were characterized by IR, far-IR and UV-V is spectroscopy, as well as elemental analyses and mass spectrometry. In contrast to previous results, penta-coordinated compounds Mc(-2)M(+III)X were not observed in the electrocrystallization experiments. © 1990.
