LOW-TEMPERATURE PHASE-TRANSITION IN CS3D(SEO4)2

The lattice constants of Cs3D(SeO4)2 have been measured in the temperature range 25-297 K using an automatic 4-circle X-ray diffractometer with a closed-cycle refrigerator. The changes in the lattice constants around the low-temperature phase transition (T(c3) congruent-to 180 K) seem more distinct than those in Rb3D(SeO4)2, but are still very small (10(-4)). The diffraction data show that the phase below T(c3) is monoclinic and the space group is most probably P2(1)/m. The relationship between the unit cells of different phases in Cs3D(SeO4)2 and the room-temperature phase in other M3H(XO4)2-type crystals is discussed.
