摘要
MüLLERIAN inhibiting substance is a glycoprotein hormone produced by fetal Sertoli cells that causes regression of the müllerian ducts in males during sexual differentiation.1 2 3 Serum concentrations of this hormone remain high in boys for several years, but then decline by puberty.4 During normal female development, in the absence of müllerian inhibiting substance, the müllerian ducts give rise to the fallopian tubes, uterus, and upper third of the vagina.1 Postnatally, granulosa cells also secrete this hormone,5 resulting in serum concentrations in pubertal girls and women that are similar to those in men.
