The production of auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, B12 glutamic acid and lysine by Azotobacter chroococcum, grown in chemically-defined media (N-free or NH:-) and dialysed-soil media with 0.5% glucose or mannitol in the presence of maize root exudates were significantly increased compared with control media without maize root excretions. However, the production of niacin, biotin, thiamine, riboflavin and tryptophane was not significantly affected by the presence of maize root exudates in the culture media. © 1991, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
