RADIATIVE LIFETIME OF THE A2-SIGMA+ STATE OF SNF

A pulsed dye laser has been used to measure the radiative lifetime and some quenching rates for the A 2∑+ state of SnF. Ground state SnF was produced by reacting tin vapor with molecular fluorine. The average radiative lifetime of the ν′ = 0,1,2, and 3 levels of the A 2∑+ state is 3.2±0.3 μsec. The quenching of the A 2∑+ state by species in the reaction: He, Sn, F2, and SnF is very inefficient. © 1979 American Institute of Physics.
