TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENT EXPRESSION OF MEASLES-VIRUS STRUCTURAL PROTEINS IN PERSISTENTLY INFECTED-CELLS

摘要
Hamster embryo fibroblasts persistently infected with measles virus (S cells) spontaneously release infectious virus at 33.5° but little infectious virus is released from the cells at 39.5°. Virus released from the cells is not temperature sensitive. Analysis of membrane-free cytoplasmic supernates and membrane fractions from S cells shows that differences exist in the expression of virus structural proteins at the permissive and nonpermissive temperatures. The expression of viral proteins in persistently infected cells grown at either 33.5 or 39.5° differs from that in lytically infected cells. Such differential expression of structural proteins may function in the maintenance of persistent measles infection in S cells. © 1979.
