摘要
The in vitro and in vivo properties of oncogenic herpesviruses from New World and Old World primates are briefly reviewed in this communication. The epidemiological, immunological and biochemical characteristics of oncogenic herpesviruses derived from New World monkeys are compared with those derived from Old World monkeys. A spontaneous lymphoma outbreak in a rhesus monkey colony is also discussed, since it provides an excellent model for human lymphoma in terms of epidemiologic, genetic, time-space clustering and environmental factors. Finally, the New and Old World primate oncogenic herpesviruses are comprehensively compared with the Epstein-Barr virus of man to stimulate further research in simian oncogenic herpesviruses as models for human neoplastic disease. © 1979.
