摘要
Self-incompatible cacao clones were observed to out-yield self-compatible clones in a 20-year trial. In another trial, self-compatible trees were seen to set three times more pods than did the self-incompatible trees. However, because of the abortion of young pods this difference had disappeared by the time the pods reached maturity. Isozyme analysis revealed that both the Acp and Idh loci were linked to one of the loci controlling compatibility type. Thus, isozyme screening of seedlings could be used to predict the compatibility type and hence pod-set and, possibly, yield of the mature tree.
