TRANSITION FROM LAMINAR TO VORTEX FLOW IN A MODEL SEMICONDUCTOR NANOSTRUCTURE

摘要
Spatial distributions of electron densities and velocities accompanying ideal ballistic transport in a model crossbar structure are considered. As the energy of the electrons is increased one observes a transition from laminar to vortex flow. The vortices form a volatile and complicated flow pattern as shown by a few selected examples. Small changes in energy or geometry may induce dramatic changes in the flow.
