NONEQUILIBRIUM GENERATION OF OPTICAL-ACTIVITY IN SOLID 1,1'-BINAPHTHYL

摘要
A phenomenological description of the spontaneous generation of optical activity in solid-state (R,S)-1,1'-binaphthyl is proposed. The description takes into account nonlinear kinetics of the inversion of mirror isomers. All peculiarities of the optical-activity generation observed experimentally have been reproduced by computer simulation. The results obtained demonstrate that the concept of spontaneous symmetry breaking gives an adequate description of the given phenomenon.
