REACTIONS OF IMINES WITH T-BUTYL ISOCYANIDE

The reactions of N-aryl imines with t-butyl isocyanide have been studied. Reaction only occurs with acid catalysis in non-basic solvents. The products from these reactions have bein identified as 2,3-bis(t-butylimino)azetidines and 3-t-butylamino-2-phenylindoles. Detailed chemical and spectral data are given in support of these assigned structures. Some preliminary reports on the chemistry of these products are described including a novel dehydrogenation by a peracid. © 1969.
