摘要
The rate at which eggshells were compressed was found to influence failure force, deformation at failure, energy required to cause failure and shell stiffness. It was concluded that eggshell material is strain-rate sensitive and mechanical tests must take this into account. This precludes the use of manually operated devices to estimate shell strength. Compression rates of at least 20 cm/min are recommended to minimize errors due to strain-rate sensitivity. © 1969.
