EFFECT OF DL-ETHIONINE ON THE BIOSYNTHESIS OF ANTHRACYCLINES IN STREPTOMYCES-COERULEORUBIDUS

摘要
Inhibitory action of DL-ethionine on 4-0-methylation and 10-COOH-esterification of the anthracyclinone ring in Streptomyces coeruleorubidus causes the formation of substances of the carminomycinone series, a concomitant drop in the production of daunomycinone derivatives and suppression of the biosynthesis of ε-rhodomycinone. The extent of inhibition depends on inhibitor concentration and the time of its addition to cultures. Ho formation of anthracyclinone ethyl-derivatives was found. © 1979 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
