摘要
Deprivation of amino acids brings about major adjustments in bacterial metabolism that are designed to counteract the emergency. These are mediated by pleiotropic regulatory effects of guanosine tetraphosphate (ppGpp), and are felt at the levels of ribosome and membrane biosynthesis, intermediary metabolism and protein turnover. Regulation by ppGpp involves both control of gene expression and allosteric effects on enzyme activity. © 1979.
