摘要
Optical microcavities with volumes approaching a cubic wavelength are being fabricated in a wide variety of condensed matter systems including glasses, semiconductors and organic materials, The strong coupling between the electronic states emitting in these microcavities and the cavity mode fields gives rise to new radiative phenomena of interest for basic physics, including coupled exciton-cavity modes and diminished fluctuations in microlasers as well as applications, including displays and optical interconnects.
