DETECTION OF [FE-II] EMISSION IN THE GALACTIC-CENTER

摘要
Emission from [Fe II] at 1.644 mum and 1.533 mum has been detected in the Galactic center. The spatial and velocity structure of the emission is similar to that of Brgamma and [Ne II]. The dereddened ratio of [Fe II] 1.644 mum to Brgamma emission is approximately 1, much greater than for a typical H II region but smaller than typically found in supernova remnants. The dereddened ratio of the 1.533 mum to 1.644 mum emission near the emission peak is 0.33 +/- 0.05, which suggests n(e) > 10(5) cm-3 in the Galactic center.
