Nearly metallic conduction on the order of 10(-3) Omega . cm was observed in the polycrystalline perovskite SrFeO2.92. The temperature coefficient of resistivity d rho/dT, however, was negative down to 12 K, indicating that the material is not truly metallic. The activation energy for conduction becomes noticeably small in the antiferromagnetically ordered state. The double-exchange approach might be adequate to explain these behaviors. For the oxygen-deficient specimens, thermoremanent magnetization due to parasitic ferromagnetism was observed.
