摘要
The propagation theory of multimode and single-mode optical waveguide fibers is reviewed. The subjects reviewed include basic propagation theory, the influence of the glass medium on attenuation and pulse dispersion, and the effects of perturbations of the waveguide's geometry and index profile. © 1979 American Physical Society.
