Thermal equilibrium phases of the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system in the KCl flux are investigated. It is shown that addition of excess CaO + CuO causes an instability of the solid phase against cooling. Besides, growth rate of the 2212-phase becomes lower by increasing the KCl content at a fixed temperature. In a proper condition, platelets grow on top of the melts, and block-like crystals from the deposits at the bottom. The block-like crystals are fair-sized with a good crystallinity. The effect of temperature cycling and addition of a small amount of impurity is also studied.
