摘要：

The chemical equilibrium of two small metal particles is investigated. The exchange of electrons leads to the electrostrictions of the particles. The electrostriction results in compression of one of them, if their electron chemical potentials are similar. The influence of the deformation upon the work function of aluminium, nickel and sodium clusters is calculated in the framework of the density-functional-theory.
