摘要
L-Tryptophanyl-L-tryptophan (Trp-Trp) and maltotriose (1) form a 1:1 complex in water (K = 8 +/- 1 M-1 at 25-degrees-C). The complexation plausibly involves intercalation of the oligosaccharide into the bisindole moiety of the dipeptide, thus rendering intramolecular energy transfer in the latter and hence self-quenching of the fluorescence thereof less efficient. Multiple cH-pi interaction thus provides a potential binding strategy for oligosaccharides in water.
