ON A SIMPLE MODEL EXPLANATION OF SHELL EFFECTS IN NUCLEAR FISSION

摘要
It is shown that shell effects on the deformation energy of fission fragments as derived from Nilsson potentials can account for the observed variation of the kinetic and excitation energy of the fragments as a function of mass. A simple static model of two tangent fission fragments is used, the scission point being determined by the requirement that the sum of deformation energies and the mutual Coulomb repulsion should be a minimum. © 1969.
