The structure of the capsular polysaccharide of the recently characterized type VI Group B Streptococcus (GBS) has been established using one- and two-dimensional homo- and heterocorrelated H-1 and C-13 NMR Spectroscopy The native polysaccharide contains D-glucose, D-galactose and sialic acid in the molar ratio 2:2:1.
