摘要
The effects that could give rise to an isotopic shift in the spectrum of a triatomic Jahn-Teller distorted molecule are discussed. Comparison between calculations and experimental observations in the A-X band systems of Li-21(3), Li-20(3) and Li-19(3) confirms the dominant influence of variations in the kinetic energy whereas any change in the electronic motion can be neglected. The isotopic shift mass dependence is drastically different for pseudo-rotational or vibronic series and allows an efficient probing of Jahn-Teller potential surfaces.
