INTERACTION OF GOLD WITH INP(100)4X2 SURFACES

摘要
The interaction of Au deposited on In-rich InP(100)4 x 2 surfaces at room temperature has been investigated in the submonolayer (theta less-than-or-equal-to 1 monolayer) and multilayer (theta less-than-or-equal-to 10 monolayers) regime by photoelectron emission using synchrotron radiation. Up to monolayer coverage, the P 2p and In 4d lines are attenuated continuously. After a deposition of 10 monolayers the P 2p line is further reduced. However, the In 4d signal is increased to the original value, and shifted to a lower binding energy, which may be identified with an Au/In alloy containing about 40% In. The reduced values measured for the Au 5d valence band splitting give additional evidence for a strong interface reaction already at room temperature.
