PREDICTING THE ENRICHMENT OF ORGANIC-COMPOUNDS IN FOG CAUSED BY ADSORPTION ON THE WATER-SURFACE

摘要
Several investigations revealed that the concentrations of organic pollutants in fog water are by far higher than would be expected from their Henry's law constant. There are different hypotheses to explain this discrepancy none of which has been generally accepted. In this work, the enrichment of compounds in fog due to adsorption on the surface of the water droplets is predicted and compared to experimental data from the literature. The results support the theory that surface adsorption may be the main reason for the observed enrichment.
