In this research poly(tetrafluoroethylene-co-hexafluoropropylene) (FEP) tubing has been used as a liquid-core-optical-fiber-type OWCC for liquid absorption spectrometry. The refractive index of the FEP tubing is much lower than those of borosilicate glass and quartz glass. Moreover, the FEP tubing is very resistant to ordinary solvent systems. Thus, the FEP capillary cell could be applied to more solvent systems than are feasible with the glass capillary cells - even to the mixed solutions of water and ethanol and to aqueous solutions with high salt concentration. Furthermore, the FEP cell could be used for absorption measurements in the UV region.
