摘要
By parabiosis we have constructed Hydra that lack nerve cells but whose tentacles contain nematocytes (stinging cells). We were able to demonstrate that the nematocysts of these polyps can be triggered either mechanically or electrically. We conclude that nematocyst discharge in hydra does not require the presence of nerve cells.
