摘要：

The specific event(s) responsible for initiation of lactation have not been identified and may be species variable. Considerable progress has been made in description and characterization of changes often associated with initiation of lactation and a number of these have been discussed. Data are presented which suggest that regulatory mechanisms affecting secretory cell differentiation, secretory cell development, and the expression of metabolic capacity may fulfill prominent roles in development of milk synthesis. © 1969, American Dairy Science Association.
