High-performance ion exchange chromatography of pectins

摘要
A method for the rapid analysis of the molecular distribution of methoxyl groups along pectin molecules on a non-porous anion exchange resin using HPLC has been developed. The results obtained were similar to results obtained with conventional ion exchange chromatography over DEAE columns. However, the analysis time was 30 min instead of 1-2 days. With this HPLC method the differences in the pattern of enzymic demethylation of highly esterified pectin by fungal and citrus pectin esterase could be conveniently demonstrated.
