FINITE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF CONE INDENTATION

摘要
An elastoplastic analysis of axisymmetric conical indentation has been made using the finite element method. Studies of the shapes of plastic zones and the effects of shear modulus, bulk modulus and indenter angle on the hardness of hard and soft materials have been made. The results show that the shapes of the plastic zones depend strongly on both indenter angle and the ratio of Young's modulus to yield strength ( E σy). It is also found that the bulk and shear moduli have large effects on the hardness of hard and soft materials, respectively. © 1990.
