摘要
An experiment is reported with respect to STM for consonant units of two sizes. Methods provided adequate time to read each unit and provided for the measurement of retention without PI. At both of the retention intervals used (3 and 18 sec) there were no retention differences of any magnitude between one- and three-consonant units when PI was eliminated by examining only the first test of the series. Later tests showed more forgetting for three- than for one-consonant units, presumably because of greater susceptibility to PI. © 1969 Academic Press Inc. All rights reserved.
