摘要
The coccolithophorid Hymenomonas carterae (Braarud et Fagerl.) Braarud produces a complicated external covering of body scales, the outer layer of which is made up of calcified scales called coccoliths. The incorporation of 45Ca++ was found to be light dependent whilst calcification itself was found to occur in either the light or the dark depending upon the availability of a storage of intracellular Ca++ within the cells. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
