摘要
The excitation of Hg vapour/N-2 mixtures by a black-body Hash was shown to produce N(2)A(3)Sigma(+)(u) by double pumping. The decay of Hg(6(3)P(0)) following the flash therefore is not characteristic of the deactivation rate, since Hg(6(3)P(0)) is still produced after the flash by energy transfer from N(2)A(3)Sigma(+)(u). It is claimed that excitation of Hg vapour/N-2 mixtures with a new flash device was effectively uncomplicated; the derived cross-sections for deactivation of Hg(6(3)P(0)) were found to be much greater than previous estimates with the standard flash technique.
