PHOTOELECTRON-SPECTRUM OF THE VINYL RADICAL - DOWNWARD REVISION OF THE C2H3 IONIZATION-POTENTIAL

摘要
We report the vacuum-UV photoelectron spectrum of the vinyl radical, C2H3, in a supersonic molecular beam. We find IP[C2H3] = 8.25(+0.20)-0.05 eV. Our ionization potential, which is lower than other reported values, combined with DELTA-H-degrees BDE,0[C2H3-H] = 105-110 kcal/mol, supports the conclusion from low-temperature ion-molecule chemistry that DELTA-H-degrees f,0[C2H3+] is several kcal/mol lower than the value derived from the dissociative photoionization of ethylene.
