EFFECT OF CODOPING LINBO3 - EU-3+ CRYSTAL WITH MG-2+ IONS ON THE EU-3+ OPTICAL-ABSORPTION SPECTRUM

In this work the optical absorption spectra of Eu3+ doped LiNbO3 measured as a function of Li/Nb ratio are presented. Two Eu3+ sites, dealing with the Nb+5 and Li+ lattice sites, have been characterized by their corresponding 7Fo-5D2 optical transitions. A doubly doped sample (LiNbO3: Mg,Eu) has been used to study the influence of Mg2+ ions on the Eu3+ optical absorption spectrum. The main effect is a shifting of the relative occupation of the two Eu3+ sites. © 1991, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
