摘要
Four thousand one hundred and seventy-three pregnancies in 1,568 members of the nursing profession were analyzed in order to assess the possible risk of congenital defect to the fetus of pregnant nurses handling patients of high presumptive infectivity. A significantly higher incidence of congenital defects was found in the offspring of nurses caring for infants with congenital defects both in hospital and under home conditions, and for premature infants under home conditions only. Nurses who reported overt infective illness during pregnancy had double the incidence of congenital defects in their offspring than those who reported on illness. Further studies would be of interest both in the nursing profession and in other female occupation groups to provide more conclusive and comparative results. © 1969.
