DOPING SUPER-LATTICES

A description is given of the properties of a system composed of a periodic sequence of ultrathin n- and p-doped layers with, possibly, intrinsic layers in between. These doping superlattices resemble in some of their properties heterostructure superlattices. The electronic structure of a doping superlattice in the ground state is briefly discussed. A summary of the properties of crystals with doping superlattice in the excited state is given together with some examples for possible device application.
