The nuclear magnetic relaxation time of water in porous media with heterogeneous internal surface wettability is shown to be a function of the ratio of water-wet to oil-wet internal surface area. Conventional laboratory nuclear magnetic resonance equipment is used in these studies in contrast to highly specialized apparatus used by previous workers. © 1969 The American Institute of Physics.
