X-RAY STUDY ON ULTRA-THIN YBA2CU3O7-DELTA SINGLE-CRYSTAL FILM INSITU GROWN BY AN ACTIVATED REACTIVE EVAPORATION METHOD

摘要
X-ray diffraction study has been performed in the ultra-thin YBa2Cu3O7-δ single crystal films in situ grown on (100) SrTiO3 and MgO substrates. Perfect c-axis growth has been revealed in both types of crystals. Excellent crystallinity has been evident by the appearance of the Laue oscillation, with 2-4 unit cells of slightly disordered region at the interfaces. In plane lattice deformation has been found in the crystals on SrTiO3, especially in 100 Å-thick crystal the orthorhombic distortion disappears, which implies that the orthorhombic distortion is not essential for superconductivity in YBa2Cu3O7-δ. © 1990.
