EXCITONS AND TYPE-I - TYPE-II TRANSITION UNDER MAGNETIC-FIELDS

摘要
We discuss the effects of a magnetic field on CdTe Cd1-xMnxTe heterostructures and show that, at moderate Mn concentration, a pseudo-type I to pseudo-type II transition occurs, namely the holes become localized in the semimagnetic ternary layer. We emphasize the role of excitons and present the results of a variational calculation of their binding energy. The valence band offset obtained in a 〈111〉 grown sample is compared to other available data. © 1992.
