摘要
Cellular os well as humoral immune responses to malaria antigens fluctuate in time in individuals living in malaria-endemic areas, particularly where malaria transmission is seasonal. The most pronounced changes are seen in association with clinical attacks, but asymptomatic infection can also lead to apparent immune depression. However, recent date have shown that seasonal variation in cellular immune responses may occur even in the absence of detectable parasitaemia. Here, Lars Hviid and Thor G. Theander review the seasonal variation in human immune responses to malaria, and discuss its possible causes and implications.
