摘要
A practical and economical (compared to methods employing chiral epichlorohydrin) synthesis of the beta-blocker (S)-propranolol [1-isopropylamino-3(1-naphthyloxy)-2-propanol] starting from 2-0-acetyl-1,3-dichloropropanol, 1,3-dichloropropanol or epichlorohydrin has been achieved with the enzymic resolution of the epoxy intermediate (1) as the key step.
