A REFINED MODEL OF THE INTERFACE MIXING IN LOCAL THERMAL SPIKES

摘要
By estimating the overlap probability for local spikes it is shown that atomic mixing occurs very likely within cylindrical rather than in spherical local spikes. A mixing model taking into account such a geometry is developed and is compared to the spherical local spike approach. The critical energy density above which subcascade overlap sets in and leads to the formation of global spikes is estimated.
